Suspect Charged After Lengthy Investigation Of Long Island Homicide

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged homicide in January of an elderly man in Levittown following a lengthy investigation.

David Cahoon Jr., 40, of 148 Clubhouse Circle, Melville, is charged with second-degree murder and will be arraigned Thursday, June 20 in First District Court in Hempstead, said Nassau County Police.

The reported homicide was discovered on Friday, Jan. 4 at 6:44 p.m. after police responded to call to conduct a welfare check at a residence on Shepard Lane, according to police.

Upon gaining entry into the home officers found the dead body of an elderly male in one of the home's bedrooms, said police.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the male, William Cahoon, 70, was found to be the victim of multiple stab wounds, police said.
